For families with children ages 6-13. Non-parent adults may join with an adult-child pair or family unit.
This 3-day family immersion invites adults and children (ages 6–13) into a shared experience of nature connection, ancestral wilderness living skills, and village-style community.
This isn’t a S’mores style campout…
This gathering is designed for family groups (including non-parent family friends) who want more than just recreation time outdoors. It weaves wilderness skills with stories, artful mentoring, and connection practices rooted in earth-based learning. The result is a weekend that is practical, soulful, spacious, and enlivening.

Build skills:
- Fire by friction demonstrations and practice
- Knife safety and carving
- Wild foraging essentials and plant identification
- Animal tracking and sensory awareness games
- Primitive shelter exploration
- Nature-based arts and crafts
Develop core routines of nature connection:
- Sit spot and sensory mapping
- Storytelling around the fire
- Night walk and awareness practices
- Cooperative games that build trust, resilience, and belonging
We create a simple, shared “village” where children are supported and parents can also relax:
- Communal campfires
- Song and gratitude practices
- Shared meals (prepared by families or potluck-style depending on setup)
- Opportunities for adults to drop into deeper conversation while kids play in safe, mentored spaces
Our Mentoring Approach
Our adventure will be steered by the 8-Shields mentoring model, a holistic approach to expanding our knowledge of place and deepening personal relationships with the natural world. Developed in close collaboration with people of earth-based cultures who hold the highest standard of naturalist knowledge, sensory awareness and connection with all living beings, the 8-Shields guides us through regenerative culture and joyful nature-connection mentoring.
⛑️ Safety: We intend first and foremost to provide an experience in which participants can come to realize that nature is Safe, Fun, and to be Respected. The safety of us all is our priority.
🥬 Food: Foraged and farmed, high-quality, nutrient-balanced, meals will be provided for the duration of the program. We are driven to support a healthy earth by feeding our bodies with healthy food. We will accommodate your dietary needs when you state them at checkout.
🏡 Accommodation: A mentor of ours, Tom Brown Jr. said, "when you take civilization on your back, you put a barrier between you and the mother – and then we wonder why we're disconnected from the Earth." In the spirit of connection, we will minimize our sleep setups, while ensuring safety and wellbeing. Bring your own tent or tarp and appropriate cold weather sleeping gear. We'll spend our days and evenings among winding oaks and fragrant rock rose.

"Your ability to engage both children and adults was amazing, and we deeply appreciated your approach to teaching. The way you encouraged the kids to observe, differentiate, and connect using all their senses, through play, exploration, and hands-on learning, was truly inspiring. It was a fantastic experience 🫶 and we can’t wait to embark on another adventure with you soon!" — Mathilde, Mother
